The work included the zoning of the 203+ acre site to allow the aircraft museum to have an operational runway. QEI designed and conducted the construction inspection of the mile-long grass runway and mitigated wetland impacts in 2 locations. The design included a bisecting ½ mile grass runway. Drainage, detention, and wetland mitigation were accomplished by incorporating grass swales and providing compensatory storage. Additional design phases included the design of maintenance and display areas, a fire tower, a conference area with associated parking, and four retention ponds. The total square footage of buildings is 156,977 sq. ft.
